The important benefit of DNS is
that we are able to use domain names such as "activewebhost.com" or
"yahoo.com" to access websites. Without DNS, we would be forced to use
IP addresses such as 66.227.67.97
instead of the much easier to remember domain name.
The DNS is the protocol (or method) that allows
two computers to speak together. DNS does the work of "translating" or
better known as "resolving" the domain name to the IP address. |
